Maksim Chmerkovskiy: Karina and I are not friends

karina-maks-943.jpgKarina Smirnoff recently told Life & Style she's still getting along with ex-fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy. But Maks had a different take on their two-step when Life & Style asked if he and Karina are still friends. "No," he said at the LA County Fair on Sept. 27. "She's a lot better at hiding her feelings apparently than I am. I just need to drop the sad person act and move on."

After a nine-month engagement, the Dancing With the Stars duo called it quits in September, but have to see each other daily on the ABC hit, where Maks is partnered with actress Debi Mazar and Karina's dancing with singer Aaron Carter. "I hate the situation with Karina because it's really gotten blown out of proportion," Maks tells Life & Style. "It's done. It's over with."

DWTS' Lacey Schwimmer recording an album

Lacey941.jpgLife & Style can exclusively reveal that Lacey Schwimmer is the latest Dancing With The Stars pro to launch a music career!

Lacey hopes to follow fellow DWTS dancer Julianne Hough into the charts. Julianne left DWTS in 2008 to pursue her now-successful music career.

"Lacey went into an LA studio on Oct. 1 and began work on her debut album, which is due in early 2010. She recorded two potential hit singles during her first two days in the studio," an insider tells Life & Style.

"Her music is in a dance-and-pop vein, and one of these songs will definitely be released as a single in November," adds the insider.

"I heard some rough mixes of the first two songs," says the insider who was at the recording sessions. "They're amazing. They really make you want to get up and dance."

Lacey is recording with WMS Entertainment Group and signed with EMC|BOWERY, both in LA.

Lou Ferrigno headed to Dancing with the Stars

lou-ferrigno.jpgThe cast of Dancing With the Stars just got a whole lot stronger. How strong? Sources tell Life & Style that former Incredible Hulk star Lou Ferrigno is set to star in the upcoming season of the popular ABC series.

Lou, who was training Michael Jackson for his comeback concerts until the singer died on June 25, had previously tried out for the show in 2007.

Lou tells Life & Style that while he hasn't yet signed the contract, he can't wait to start training for the show.

"I had a good meeting with the producers for Dancing With the Stars, it was really positive, and they loved the idea of having me on the show," Lou says.

Though Lou is known for being a great athlete, dancing isn't exactly his forte.

"I've never done that type of dancing before, so I know that I'll have to train hard," he says. "I'm a glutton for punishment, so I'll give it my best shot."

L&S exclusive: DWTS' Karina blows out her knee -- and gets surgery!

3485016019132CF220F009.jpg
It looks like Dancing With the Stars' Karina Smirnoff won't be getting an early start on rehearsals this season!

She injured a knee and was still recovering from surgery on Jan. 30, forcing her to skip her appearance with fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy at Shrine Asian Kitchen, Lounge & Nightclub at Foxwoods in Connecticut.

"The doctor ordered Karina to stay put, but I know that she really wanted to come and was ready to party!" an insider tells Life & Style.

"Her injury was the result of wear and tear -- not a specific incident," another insider adds. "Being a dancer, you have to really take care of yourself. If you're going from this to that then to something else and you never get a break, it takes its toll."

But don't worry! Karina will be back and ready to do her best fox-trot when the new season of DWTS returns on March 9.

"Karina's doing fine and will be good to go for the new season," her rep, Michelle Berger, tells Life & Style.

"She received medical attention," the spokesperson continued, "and will be performing on tonight's show."
