Travis and Shanna's custody blowup!

It looked like on-again, off-again couple Shanna Moakler and Travis Barker would have a good summer, peacefully sharing their two children -- son Landon, 5, and daughter Alabama, 3. But today, when Travis was supposed to return the kids to their ex-beauty-queen mom at her family home in Rhode Island, that all fell apart when Travis met her with the kids, an insider tells Life & Style. "He started screaming and wouldn't leave the kids with her."

Last month Travis and Shanna approved changes to their custody agreement that let Travis take the kids on the road for a month while he was on tour with his band, Blink 182.

The fight escalated to the point that police were called to Shanna's home. "Officers were dispatched to that address about an hour ago," Barrington, R.I., Police Sgt. Tim Harrington told Life & Style around 5:45 p.m. when asked whether officers had responded to the Moakler address in the Providence suburb. Harrington would not discuss the nature or outcome of the call, but an insider tells Life & Style that cops had to make Travis go.

"Travis wouldn't leave because he wanted Shanna to let his nanny stay with her and the kids, but she refused," the insider says. "When Travis refused to go, Shanna called the police. They gave Travis a choice: Leave or get arrested. So he left. But he wasn't happy. He's already twittered about Shanna."

Travis' tweet leaves no doubt about his feelings toward his ex-wife: "My babies [sic] mama is a pile of sh*t."

Life & Style Exclusive: Shanna: I just can't leave Travis

Since the devastating plane crash that nearly killed Travis Barker on Sept. 19, his ex-wife Shanna Moakler has rarely left the rocker's side. An emotional Shanna sat down for an exclusive interview and photo shoot with Life & Style on Nov. 14, breaking her silence about where the on-again, off-again couple, who divorced earlier this year, stand now.

"I'm helping him as much as I can," Shanna tells Life & Style. "I'll do anything he ever needs." And while this new stage of their relationship is still too delicate to put a label on, Shanna confirms she has no desire to date anyone else right now. "Travis and I go back and forth so much that I don't have time to meet anybody or do anything," she says. "We have a profound love, and he'll always be in my life no matter what."

When it comes to what the future holds for her and Travis, however, Shanna admits she's less certain. "We're so alike -- we both have type-A personalities," she notes. "I almost think it's like we love each other too much." Still, she's not ready to give up just yet, adding, "Who knows what can happen?"

After surviving a devastating plane crash on Sept. 19, rocker Travis Barker is less than pleased with the conditions of his new hospital, the Grossman Burn Center in Sherman Oaks, Calif., Life & Style has learned.

"While the skin-graft surgery [performed there] was a success, they're concerned about the level of care Travis is receiving now," a friend of Travis' ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, tells Life & Style.

Quick access to doctors and medications seems to be the main cause of Barker's discontent. "He felt he had to wait too long for pain medications after his surgery last week and that he hasn't been receiving quick enough access to doctors," the friend says. "They're looking into moving him elsewhere, but I'm not sure they will. It's a very emotional time."

Adding to Barker's unhappiness is the hospital's refusal to let Shanna stay with Travis at night, the friend tells Life & Style.
