helen_NBC921.jpg

On the the Biggest Loser, numbers definitely count -- but not when it comes to age! Just ask Helen Phillips, the 48-year-old mom who on May 12 took the crown (and the $250,000 grand prize) as the season-seven champ of the NBC competition. "The show saved my life," Helen, who shed a whopping 140 pounds during the season, tells Life & Style. "I feel like I have a second chance. I have a new lease and a new outlook on life."

And the unexpected winner says the show transformed everything from her daily activities to her attitude. "The minute I got on the ranch, I quit smoking," says 5-foot-6 Helen -- who dropped to 117 pounds by adopting a healthy diet and rigorous workout routine. "I'm running now," she adds. "I'm an athlete!"

Madonna's latest way to stay young

Madonna905.jpg

Madonna appears to have a new favorite restaurant in NYC. The 50-year-old singer dined at the Waverly Inn twice in one week recently, and the big draw seemed to be a certain entrée on the menu.

"She had the salmon with lentils," says an onlooker who spotted Madonna dining with pals Gwyneth Paltrow, Truth or Dare director Alek Keshishian and Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld on Jan. 14. Adds an insider, "She looked good!"

Indeed, these days Madonna is on a special "salmon retox" diet in an effort to turn back the clock. "She believes the omega-3 oils in salmon make her look younger and more radiant," reveals the insider.

In Life & Style now: How Britney, Jessica and Halle got thin

903Cover.jpg
Britney Spears says she doesn't like the word "comeback," but in 2008 the chart-topping singer certainly made one. And the most dramatic part of her return to the spotlight was the 20- to 25-pound weight loss that made the star's body look as toned as it did a decade ago.

Yet Brit, 27, didn't really mind dancing for two to four hours every day to get her 5-foot-4 body burning fat. "To me, dancing doesn't feel like exercise," Britney has told Life & Style. "I love it, and I'm always happy when I'm done."

Brit's not the only star who's taken off the pounds! To read what Jessica Alba, Halle Berry and Eva Longoria, among others, have done to get in their best shape, pick up the latest issue of Life & Style, on newsstands now!

Life & Style Exclusive: Kim Kardashian: 'I eat whatever I want!'

KimKardashian850.jpg

It's not often a star admits to actually eating sweets and even rarer that she does it in public. "I eat whatever I want," Kim Kardashian, 28, tells Life & Style in an exclusive interview. "Life is too short not to."

Among her favorite indulgences: Oreos and candy. "I always have a stash of Hot Tamales or Skittles in my purse," she reveals. "I just have the biggest sweet tooth ever."

Still, the curvaceous star doesn't give in to every craving. "I used to eat all my snacks and desserts first — before my salad or my dinner — because I was so excited to get to them," Kim admits. "But now I try to fill up on healthier foods so that when it's time for something sweet, I don't end up stuffing my face. But I always have room for dessert!"

Sure, A-listers always claim their red-carpet-ready bods are simply the result of hard work, diet and exercise. But now former NFL linebacker Billy Romanowski tells Life & Style that the weight-loss supplement in his Nutrition 53 product line is the added ingredient in stars' body-perfecting regimens.

"It's a big hit with actresses for when they have to drop weight quickly for a role," says Romanowski, who claims Angelina Jolie and Britney Spears are fans of his all-natural shakes.
