J-14 is scouting out the hottest bands around... and this week's pick is Cartel!
Here are five things you need to know about Cartel, whose album, Cycles, just came out last week!
1- The guys met while attending elementary school together in Conyers, GA, and have been a band since 2000.
2- They're currently on a tour with This Providence and J-14 Hot Band Alert pick a few weeks back, The Summer Set.
3- All of their music is made to rock the stage. "We've built our career on non-stop touring and having music that makes for amazing shows is our first goal," says lead singer Will Pugh. "We wanted to craft a record that represents the energy we bring into our live performance."
4- You may remember the band best from MTV's reality show, Band in a Bubble, when the guy lived in an actual "bubble" on New York City's Hudson River and had 23 webcams filming their every move while recording their last album, the self-titled, Cartel, in 2007.
5- When the band tweeted an unofficial "peanut butter or jelly" poll in August, the results were clear. "Peanut butter wins. Notables: apple butter and peanut jelly. Well done," they Twittered.
