Hi J-14ers!
When the news broke of Michael Jackson's sudden death yesterday, I'm pretty sure I can speak for all the editors when I saw we were in total shock and disbelief. Everyone was crowded around my computer as we watched the tragic story unfold.
Now I know Michael Jackson isn't someone you would normally see on the pages of J-14, (But think -- in 1970, if J-14 was around, Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5 would have been on the cover front and center!), but there's no denying that he has had a profound effect on many of your fave stars -- and me, too!
Music has always been a huge part of my family -- and it was definitely common to hear a MJ tune coming out our CD player at any given time. I remember being a kid and my dad putting the Thriller record on, (Yes, I said record!), and me dancing in my pink nightgown, trying to learn the now famous dance.
Actually, wanna hear a funny story?! Speaking of "Thriller," for some crazy reason, my dad decided to tape the music video on the same video tape as my copy of Dumbo. (If you've never seen the "Thriller" video, it's kinda scary!) So for years I was petrified of Dumbo because I thought the monsters in "Thriller" were part of the movie! LOL!
More recently, I was hanging out with the guys of Honor Society at Bamboozle and we got on the subject of MJ and talked for a good few minutes about our love for the King of Pop. HS member Michael even told me that he dressed up as Michael Jackson for Halloween a few times!
And regardless of the endless rumors Michael had to deal with on a daily basis, it was and will always be all about the music. Think about how many times you hear "Thriller" or "Beat It" or "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" or "I'll Be There" on the radio, at your school dance, or playing in background of a movie. Even though Michael is no longer with us, his legacy will live on.
RIP King of Pop.

American Idol season six winner Jordin Sparks took the Idol stage just hours ago tonight to make her debut performance of her new single, "Battlefield." The song is the first single off her second album, due out this summer.
"Battlefield" was co-written by OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder (who also wrote Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love" with Jesse McCartney). The song is currently available on iTunes.
Jordin will take hit the road this summer with the Jonas Brothers and Honor Society on the 52-date world tour starting in Dallas June 20.

We wish that Bamboozle was every weekend! We got to rock out in the rain alongside our favorite musicians, and they even gave J-14 readers a shout out! Were any of you guys at Bamboozle? Do you have plans to see any of your favorite bands or singers on tour this summer? If not, what is your dream concert?
When J-14 hit the sold-out Honor Society headlining concert tonight at New York City's Irving Plaza, we were just thrilled to be able to rock out to their catchy songs like "See U in the Dark" and "Why Didn't I?" Imagine our surprise when we turned our heads and who was squeezing by us?! Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas (in that order!). We literally rubbed elbows with Kevin as he passed by.
The Jonas Brothers have been longtime friends with Honor Society, but taking time out of their crazy NYC schedule where our source tells us "literally every minute is scheduled," just goes to show what good buds they are!
Needless to say, the attention turned towards the VIP area balcony where we were standing just a few feet away from the JoBros the whole night. Kevin clapped and jammed along to the Honor Society songs... and we even saw Mama Jonas rockin' out!
Of course, we were thrilled to spend the our post-Valentine's Day with the JBs, but two of the three Jonases brought their own dates! Yup, in one of their rare public appearances as a foursome, Kevin was with Danielle Deleasa and Joe with Camilla Belle. After the show, we even caught Joe and Camilla rushing out the back entrance together and ducking into a black SUV. (Screams erupted half way down the block, so we're guessing the JBs rolled down their windows- sweet!)
And to further confirm that everything with the Jonas Brothers is truly about family... everyone in the extended JoBros family was in attendance from Mama and Papa Jonas to all the members of their band, newly named Bulldozer.
But the Jonas Brothers didn't just standby to support their buds, they even hit the stage with them! Honor Society lead singer Michael Bruno introduced them as a Valentine's Day gift.... "From us to you, our friends, your friends... Jonas Brothers!" Hugs were exchanged between all on stage and then they started singing "Don't Close the Book" together!
