Q&A with Lucas Till

LucasTillSpyNextDoor.jpg

He won our hearts as Travis in Hannah Montana: The Movie, but now Lucas Till is kicking butt in the new Jackie Chan flick, The Spy Next Door. Check out our Q&A with the cutie:

J-14: So what was it like to play a bad guy for a change?
Lucas Till:
It was a dream come true in many ways. First of all, I got to play a bad guy. And although it's not Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight, it's still a change. It's still in the direction I would love to go. I always wanted to play characters and that was definitely one -- a Russian spy. So, it was awesome. It was fun. It's actually kind of liberating not caring and getting to play something cool like that.

J-14: What was it like learning the choreography for your intense fight scene with Jackie Chan?
Lucas:
It was pretty nuts. The first day of rehearsal, I'm learning from the American stunt guys. And the American stunt guys, they're a team and they tell you how it's going to be. Then I go to Jackie's stunt team and even though it's probably the same amount of guys, I have to go through each one of his stunt guys individually and they, I don't know. They are all from East Asia and let's just say their manners are lost in translation. You have to throw your pride out the window when you're listening to these guys because they are telling me seven times over what I'm doing wrong. And then the next guy will tell me something I'm doing different than the first guy that I should have been doing the whole time. Then I would start over with the next guy. It was a long process. A long demoralizing process where they told me how weak and pathetic I was. Finally, I got to Jackie and he would tell me what I was doing wrong too. I'd have to go cry and come back, look at the footage and be happy. It was pretty nuts. There was no martial art training before. It was just rehearsal. I had a great time though.

J-14: What did you do to perfect your Russian accent?
Lucas:
I played a lot of Grand Theft Auto 4 right before. It's a bunch of Russians all throughout that videogame and I play a lot of videogames. Actually, I showed up on set. I kind of thought that maybe I'll have an accent, but that had never been addressed until I showed up, asked Brian Levant if I was going to be using an accent, and he goes, "Huh. You know what? Sure. Why not?" So, I'm glad I had all that preparation in there since I didn't even know that was going to happen.

J-14: Were there any on-set bloopers or embarrassing moments during filming?
Lucas:
Yeah, actually in the bloopers at the end of the movie, you can see me making some weird noise and spitting my tongue out. It's because I was actually in a lot of pain. Jackie said messed up a line and I'm acting all intense. He's pinning me down on the chair and I was actually in pain. You could actually see that at the end of the movie if you watch it. There were a couple of times... I would love to do my own stunts, but stunts are not something I have a lot of experience with. There were a lot of times I tried to do stuff and I was just not confident enough to pull it off. A couple of times I was told I punch like a girl by Jackie's stunt team.

J-14: You've worked with a lot of teen stars like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift, who else are you dying to work with?
Lucas:
I think Selena Gomez is extremely talented. I wouldn't say that I don't say that often, but I have a lot of respect for people with a lot of talent. In experience, usually that's older people. But, I just think that Selena Gomez is not only extremely pretty but she's a really good actress. I'd like to work with her.

J-14 Exclusive: Behind the Scenes of Taylor Swift's New Music Video!

We love Taylor Swift's new music video for "You Belong With Me," and are excited to see Lucas Till playing her super hot crush in it. We first fell in love with the Southern cutie as Miley's main guy in in Hannah Montana: The Movie.

J-14 talked to Lucas last week before the music video came out and we tried to get him to spill on whether or not Taylor kisses him in the video! His lips were sealed on that subject, but he did tell us what it was like shooting in her little brother's high school:

"She's a very big deal," Lucas laughed. "We shot it at the school where her brother goes to high school so a lot of the kids there had already met her many times before because they're her brother's friends. So it was, like, 'Oh, cool... but we already, kinda met her...'"

But the school wasn't so calm when Taylor showed up for a big scene! "The entire bleacher still freaked out when she got up there!" Lucas gushed to J-14.

Do you guys think Lucas and Taylor would make a cute couple in real life? What do you think of Taylor's new video? Are you more like Taylor's cheerleader character or the girl in the marching band? Check out Taylor's video for "You Belong With Me" and find out if she shares a smooch with Lucas!

J-14 spent the day at Planet Hollywood in NYC with Emily Osment and Lucas Till!

Lucas was totally shocked when he found out he got the part in the movie! "I jumped around, did some cartwheels, back flips and hurt myself," Lucas told us. "I remember hurting my shoulder."

Lucas also dished that he thinks the "Hoedown Throwdown" is really hard! "I spent three hours with Miley in an one-on-one session trying to get it down and still barely got it," Lucas told J-14. "I spent three hours learning this dance!"

J-14 Confirms It: Lucas Till & Sterling Knight Twitters are Fake!

lucassterling.jpg

Since the Twitter phenomenon took off, we've all been following all of our favorite stars during their in every step of their lives! J-14 was the first teen magazine to start Twittering -- so now we're on Twitter Patrol to get to the bottom of the Fake Twitterers out there!

First up, Hannah Montana: The Movie's Lucas Till does NOT Twitter. We got the scoop straight from him just moments ago. "Actually no, that's an imposter," Lucas said. "I don't have a Twitter yet. Its so frustrating! My friends all the time are like, 'Hey you're coming to New York?' And I'm like, 'Yeahhhh...how did you know that?' I don't have a Facebook, MySpace, or Twitter. And they get really personal photos too sometimes! It's really weird."

Next, we talked to Sonny with a Chance and 17 Again star Sterling Knight last week and his too is a fake! "No, I do not have a Twitter," he tells J-14 exclusively. "No Twitter for Sterling."

But that doesn't mean they're all fake! There are some real celeb Twitterers out there.

Hannah Montana's Mitchel Musso's is real. "I just like that it can be the middle of the night and you can send out that text and get literally everyone texting you back," he tells J-14 exclusively. "They want to hear what you have to say. You can be as deep as you want. I remember I was with my buddy and we were on Twitter and he follows John Mayer, who sent out this massive text that just said, 'Can anyone tell me why I'm sitting in my bathtub with my guitar by myself?' or something like that. And all of these girls texted back."

The Suite Life on Deck star Debby Ryan is "obsessed" with Twitter too. "I got my friend Emma obsessed, too," she tells J-14 exclusively. "I told her, 'I want to keep you updated and you can keep me updated!' When I was going onto MySpace, I realized I was just going on to change my status and check my stuff and then leave. That's what I love about Twitter, you can look and in 10 seconds you can see, "Oh, Miley had a photo shoot. Demi can't wait to see Selena again." It's very cool because you can know people's plans and when people are free and when people aren't."

David Henrie of Wizards of Waverly Place is also an active (and real!) Tweeter. "It's fun to talk to fans and I can say funny stuff," he tells J-14. "It makes people's day sometimes!"

Do you Twitter? What celeb Tweets do you follow? And don't forgot to follow J-14's OFFICIAL Twitter at twitter.com/j14magazine.

Q&A with the Hannah Montana: The Movie Cast!

hannahmontanathemovie.jpg

Hannah Montana: The Movie hits theaters April 10, and J-14 recently got to hang out with stars Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jason Earles, Emily Osment and Lucas Till. Get the juicy 411 below!

Q: Where there any bloopers on set?
Jason: The thing I was most nervous about in the movie was the scene with the ostrich. I knew I was in trouble when the animal handler gave me the leash and said, "Don't pull on that, he doesn't like it." I was like, "Please dear God, don't let it bite me." And the very first day it bit me right in the face!
Miley: And they used the part where you got bit in the face too!

Q: Miley, have you ever thought of making a pure country album?
Miley: I would like to do that at some point 'cause that's where I'm from. I was really happy to go back to Nashville and write. The song "The Climb" has a little country vibe to it. A lot of those songs in the flick do because it went so well with the theme of the movie.

Q: How is Miley different in real life from on screen?
Emily: When we made the movie we went back to Franklin, Miley's hometown, and I got to see her farm and where she grew up. The movie is sort of parallel to that because it's about her going back home and regaining her roots.
Jason: I think Miley, at least my relationship with her, is very similar in real life to the show. I look at her as an annoying little sister sometimes.
Miley: That you want to beat.
Emily: And do!

Q: What kind of roles are you looking for after Hannah Montana ends?
Emiy: I've been playing this character for almost four years now, so it's natural for me to want to play something different. I think everybody does.
Miley: This summer, I'm working on a movie that Nicholas Sparks wrote for me. You never hear that the movie was written before the book. It's a weird way to do it. But, he wrote the movie before he wrote the book with me in mind. I've always been lucky to play parts that relate to me and this doesn't at all. I can actually see if I'm a good actress or not, or if I'm just good at playing myself.
Lucas: A year ago, the last thing I thought I'd be doing is the Hannah Montana movie. This is a lot different than what I would normally go for. I definitely want to go for something more edgy, something that my friends back home can watch.
Emily: I want to be slaughtered! I think it would be fun.
Miley: I want to stay alive in pretty much 90% of my movies. Slaughtering isn't exactly what I'm going for, but I will play edgy for sure.

Q: Lucas, what was your screen test like with Miley?
Lucas: When I found out I was going out to L.A. to screen test, I was so nervous. I didn't eat for a week. I was expecting a different attitude from Miley, and she walked in and was just a normal, sweet girl, and it made it that much easier.
Miley: I was on my best behavior. I was doing all of my commenting on texts to my mom, like I said, "He is hot! We should pick him!" Another guy that came in was a friend of mine. I was just looking at him thinking, "I love you so much, but no because you're my friend." I worked with him on Big Fish when I was eight-years-old, so it was just weird.
