Edward Cullen may have been able to save Bella Swan from a car accident -- but Twilight star Rob Pattinson is definitely not immune to them in real life.

Reports just surfaced that Rob was "clipped" by a taxi cab just a few hours ago (around noon ET) in front of Strand Bookstore in New York City.

Rob was inside a building working on his next film, Remember Me. Fans have been engulfing him on the streets ever since he started working on location in NYC -- and today was no different. Rob was walking to his trailer, with five security guards protecting him.

But the fan frenzy got out of hand, and Rob rushed across the street... just as a cab was driving by. The driver stepped on his brakes as soon as he realized what was happening. Rob was grazed at the hip... and looked shocked. A bodyguard shouted out to the crowd, "You see what you did, you almost killed him!"

Don't fear... Rob is okay. But the fan craze is definitely getting out of hand with blogs posting and spreading his every move in real time online, especially through Twitter... please be careful and keep our Robby P. safe! (And sign our Protect Rob Pattinson petition!)

UPDATE: 6/18 4:07 p.m.: Summit Entertainment (the studio behind Twilight and Remember Me) released an official statement: "Robert Pattinson is fine. The reports are exaggerated, and the accident was not caused by fans. Production continues."

Edward Cullen's got a new Bella... that is, The Twilight Saga: New Moon star Rob Pattinson has a new leading lady in his upcoming Valentine's Day 2010 film, Remember Me... and this time he's going with blonde over brunette!

Lost and Roswell alumni Emilie de Ravin will play Rob's love interest. Previously rumored costar, Harry Potter's Emma Watson will not appear in the movie.

Although the official storyline describes the film as "infused with humor and romance," the basis is actually a bit more dramatic.

Rob plays a guy whose parents have split up because of his brother's suicide and Emilie's character sees her mom murdered right in front of her. The tragedies bring the two together.

Although Rob stopped in New York City for a couple days this week, production officially kicks off on June 15. He will spend the summer in the Big Apple before heading back to Vancouver to shoot The Twilight Saga: Eclipse... with only a three-day break in between. Phew! Rob sure is a hard worker! ;)

After months of working together -- and hanging out together -- on The Twilight Saga: New Moon in Vancouver and Italy, Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart finally went their separate ways yesterday.

They hung out together one last time in Los Angeles on Sunday night, after both won big honors at the MTV Movie Awards, and then Monday afternoon, Rob hopped on a plane from LAX to New York City's JFK airport.

On their last night, the costars/friends went to to the Italian restaurant, Cecconi's, in West Hollywood, and then headed back to The Charlie Hotel (also in WeHo), with police escorts in tow.

Rob will spend the summer in New York working on another Summit Entertainment film, Remember Me, due out next Valentine's Day weekend.

The two will reunite in Vancouver this October for the filming of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Forget Rob Pattinson? Never. But today the teaser poster for his movie, Remember Me, was revealed by Summit Entertainment (yup, the same people behind The Twilight Saga).

Rob will spend the summer in New York City filming the movie, which will hit theaters on February 12, 2010... just in time for Valentine's Day (sigh).

The poster features the NYC skyline in the background, with Rob's name. He's currently the only actor attached to the project.

The official description for the film reads, "Infused with humor and romance, Remember Me tells the unforgettable love story of two young people who learn how important it is to love passionately and live loudly everyday of one's life."

Earlier today, rumors circulated that Harry Potter's Emma Watson would be Rob's costar, but we set the record straight.

Based on this description, who do you think would make a good costar for Rob? (And no, you can't choose you ;) ).

Rumors are flying that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire costars Emma Watson and Robert Pattinson (he played Hogwarts wizard Cedric Diggory in the movie) will be starring together in Rob's next movie, Remember Me. As much as we'd like to see a Harry Potter reunion, the pairing actually just comes from an MTV poll asking readers who they'd like to see as Rob's costar and Emma came in the top spot. So as of now, Emma will not be in Robby P.'s movie.

Rob and Emma will both be on the MTV Movie Awards -- but Emma's portion will be broadcast from England. Rob will be presenting exclusive footage from The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and Emma from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

However, that doesn't mean Rob's not a total gentleman around Emma. You've got to see this vintage footage of Rob pouring water for Emma. Awww! How we wish we were in her place! ;)

Rob Pattinson is full of movie news these days! Fresh from his confirmation that he'll be part of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (the fourth movie in the series), Robby P. will also be starring in the big screen movie, Bel Ami.

The film is based on a Guy de Maupassant novel about an overly-eager and power-seeking journalist, whose nickname is Bel Ami. And yes, Rob will be playing Bel Ami himself. The movie will shoot in Paris early next year. (Rob in Paris? Ooh la la!)

Bel Ami + Bella? What can we say? Life is "belle" (beautiful en francais!).

So let's sum up Rob's movie schedule: he's currently in Italy wrapping up the last few days of The Twilight Saga: New Moon. He then takes a well-deserved few days off before heading to New York to film Remember Me for eight weeks. After that, he will have exactly three days off before he heads back to Vancouver to film The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in October. And right after that, he goes into Bel Ami in Paris.

Phew! Hopefully Rob's got a nice long vacation scheduled after that!

Rob will take a break from playing Edward Cullen to star in Remember Me, a new romantic flick where he plays the leading love interest - a part we all know he's perfect for! No one has been named as his costar yet, but J-14 will keep you updated when we find out who the lucky lady is.

And don't worry that Rob won't have time for Eclipse, the actor will definitely return as our favorite vampire! He'll just have a busy schedule for the rest of the year: New Moon will wrap up in Italy in May, then Rob will come to New York to film Remember Me, and in August he'll be back working on the third Twilight movie!

This weekend, J-14 saw a screening of Rob's indie flick How to Be at the Tribeca Film Festival and loved him as a moody musician. When asked why he cast Rob in the role, director Oliver Irving joked that he was just, "sooo dreamy," and then admitted that Rob was the best who auditioned because of his acting and musical abilities. In May, Rob will also be portraying artist Salvador Dali in Little Ashes, another dramatic role totally different than his character Edward.
