Q&A With Robbie Amell

J-14 sat down with actor Robbie Amell who spilled about what it's like playing Keke Palmer's love interest on True Jackson VP, what Ashley Tisdale and Alyson Stoner really, his upcoming Cartoon Network show, and more!

J-14: What's the best part about working with Keke?
Robbie: She's so mature, and so professional, and at the same time she's 16, so she's so fun and still really loves what she does. It makes it so much easier to be around that kind of person on set.

J-14: How does it feel to be the love interest?
Robbie: It sounds weird but it's great that Keke is so young because there's no tension at all. It's completely fun and we keep it very friendly. She's such a cute girl and she's really sweet. It's really easy to play her love interest. At the same time, I get to have my other side of it when I'm just a weird musician and I fly around screaming and talking about my band for most of the episodes.

J-14: What's your favorite episode so far?
Robbie: I tackle Ryan on three separate occasions. One of them I jump off a thing that's waist-high and body slam him. It's the action episode and not so much about the fashion.

J-14: What was it like working with Ashley Tisdale and Alyson Stoner? What are they like off-camera?
Robbie: Picture This was with Ashley Tisdale, which was amazing. We shot in Canada. Ashley was so sweet. I had no idea how old she was. I thought she was younger than I was just because I had never met her. Turns out she is a little older than me, but she was just so sweet and couldn't have been a nicer person to work with. It was such a relaxed set. She was a lot of fun.

I worked with Alyson Stoner in Cheaper By The Dozen 2. I got to know her pretty well. It always fascinated me how young she was, but how great of a dancer she was at the same time. I just couldn't believe that someone that little could dance like that, it was unbelievable. I would always ask her to dance on set and do the Missy Elliott video dance. When I came out here for the Cheaper premiere, I stayed at her place. Her mom and family took care of my mom and me. We had a great time. When I moved out here for good, I kept contact with her. Then Kevin Schmidt, who is also in the movie [Cheaper By The Dozen 2], directed the Alyson Stoner Project. He said that Alyson would love for me to come and just be a part of it and do whatever I can. I did a little small thing where I'm standing on the red carpet when she comes walking in and I'm there with a couple of her friends.

J-14: You're playing Fred in Scooby Doo: The Beginning on Cartoon Network later this year. What was that like?
Robbie: It was so much fun. We shot in Canada for six weeks. I had a fight scene with a ghost, which was a man dressed in a mannequin costume and football equipment. I really got to beat him up because he was wearing full football equipment. Then I had a scene where I come running out of the school, after the ghosts have destroyed everything, and the whole school explodes behind me. It was unbelievable. I couldn't have asked for a better project.
