Hey J-14ers!
Can you believe it? The holidays are right around the corner and just in time: A Very Special Christmas: Volume 7 -- featuring all my favorite artists is coming out November 23! Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens, Mitchel Musso, Ashley Tisdale, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, Sean Kingston, Kristina DeBarge, Colbie Caillat, Leighton Meester, Gloriana, and more make the all-star line up for this compilation of holiday songs. And they don't disappoint!
These definitely aren't your typical Christmas carols, but they'll still totally get you into the holiday spirit and have you singing along! I was excited to hear some of my absolute favorite artists on there like Leighton Meester, Kellie Pickler, and Carrie Underwood! One of the highlights is Colbie Caillat's "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas." Colbie's unique vocals give the song a much needed face-lift, but still hold onto the tune's charm. Miley sings one of my favorite Christmas songs, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," with a full blast of energy. I would expect no less from her! Sean Kingston's version of "The Little Drummer Boy" mixes up the classic with fun beats and reggae fusion. I also am lovin' Leighton Meester's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)!" The Gossip girl is my pick for new artist to keep an eye on in the new year. And last but not least, Ashley Tisdale's vocals are perfect for the fun holiday song "Last Christmas!"
You know how giving is better than receiving this time of year? Bonus: proceeds from the album benefit The Special Olympics! Since the first Very Special Christmas compilation back in 1987, these Xmas albums have raised more than $100 million for the organization. Talk about Christmas cheer! If you're feeling especially generous this season, this CD is a perfect treat for a friend and yourself ;)! Check out www.veryspecialchristmas.com, help this great cause, and I'll see you rockin' around the Christmas tree this year!

<3 Nicole

Iyaz may have originally written his hit single "Replay" about a girl that he can't get out of his head, but ever since he stopped by the J-14 offices, we haven't been able to get "Replay" out of our heads! The hitmaker dished with us about how he met Sean Kingston, the inspiration for his music, and what to expect from his debut album!
J-14: How did you get hooked up with Sean Kingston?
Iyaz: He sent me a MySpace message! He was like, "I love your stuff, man. Let's work together, man!" But I never replied. I ignored him for three days, then I gave him a fake number! He got upset, so I gave him my number. After he called me, he flew me out -- I was supposed to go to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for a day, but I stayed for a whole week during Memorial Day. And now I'm on his label, it's crazy!
J-14: What kind of music did you have up on MySpace?
Iyaz: I had music that I did on a little Dell laptop with a cheap headset from Wal-Mart! I made it sound like studio though, because I went to school for engineering.
J-14: What was your inspiration for "Replay?"
Iyaz: I was writing it for my girl -- everywhere I go I see her! Everywhere I go she's like a song stuck in my head! You know that song: "Lamb Chop's play along?" That song that grows on you! There are songs that you just can't get out of your head that won't go away. That's "Replay."
J-14: What happened when you first played "Replay" for your girlfriend?
Iyaz: She was screaming on the phone! I don't normally let her hear all of the songs so I played it through the phone first. I won some brownie points, yup!
J-14: Who has been the biggest crush of your life?
Iyaz: I had a crush on Beyonce, but Jay-Z went and put a ring on it so I had to put a lid on it! My new crush is Megan Fox. She. Looks. Good. She was actually sitting in front of us at the VMAs but I was too scared.
J-14: Was your girlfriend jealous?
Iyaz: She texted me and said, "I see you're sitting behind your girlfriend."
J-14: Are girls more of an inspiration or a distraction for you?
Iyaz: Both! I like making songs for the ladies. Ladies are the ones who are going to buy the album. Dudes are not going to buy the album. Dudes are going to be like, "hey my lady's listening to you more than me!" He's trying to talk to her but she's just listening to me! There will be a lot of of love songs, a lot of relationship songs on the album.
Spill with us in the comments below: Are you loving Iyaz's single "Replay?" What song do you get stuck in your head?

J-14 just hung out with Degrassi's Melinda Shankar (she plays Alli) and Sam Earle (KC)! The two flew down to New York City from Toronto for Nickelodeon's World Wide Day of Play. Nick is shutting off their programming from noon until 3 p.m. to encourage everyone to get outside!
To celebrate, Sean Kingston will be performing, and Melinda and Sam get to introduce him to the crowd. "I am so excited to meet Sean because I hear he's really nice!" Melinda tells J-14.
They may be TV stars, but Melinda and Sam enjoy spending time being active, too. "Since I was 3, I've been doing ballet and karate. I know it sounds like an awful mix, but somehow they help each other out! That's how I get out there and active," Melinda reveals. And Sam loves sports too -- he's played hockey since he was a kid, and he shocked Melinda by revealing that he took dance lessons as a little kid, too!
They're not the only stars getting in on the action -- Victoria Justice and True Jackson, VP's Keke Palmer are so excited for tomorrow that they also made an exclusive video just for J-14!
What do you do to get active? Will you be shutting off your TV tomorrow?
The 19-year-old "Fire Burning" singer stopped by the J-14 office and became J14.com's Guest Editor for a Day! Check out his Top 5 Songs of the Summer:
1. Lady Gaga "LoveGame" I like the futuristic disco type of thing. She's definitely a dope artist. I love her music, she's tight.
2. Drake "Best I Ever Had" Him coming out saying that he wishes he could meet every girl in the world -- I just like whole concept.
3. Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow" This song makes me want to get up and dance. It's a catchy hook, it's easy to sing a long to, and Black Eyed Peas are great. I like Fergie, I like the way Fergie comes in on the song that whole, "I'm so 3008..." Her swag is crazy. I love her. She's just so down to earth cool.
4. Pitbull "Calle Ocho" I think that has a little Spanish vibe to it that I like. Pitbull is great. You know he represents Miami. I'm from Miami. I think it's a great record.
5. Jay-Z "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)" Jay-Z is great. He's on my ipod. He's a lyricist. He's a genius. He's my favorite rapper. He's actually somebody who I look up to, I idolize.
What are your favorite songs this summer?

Young celebs like Selena, Demi, Debby, and Keke used their goodnight Tweets to send love and prayers to the Jackson family, while others, like Kid Cudi, dedicated their recording session or shows that night to Michael. BowWow, appearing on MuchMusic in Toronto admitted, "I don't even feel like performing" when he heard the news. Pink dedicated last night's Sydney, Australia Funhouse concert to Michael Jackson -- her dancers and band busted out MJ's moves and did the moonwalk on stage!
Musicians of all genres have been sharing the impact Michael Jackson has had on their careers. Aly and AJ commented, "as sisters and artists we have a huge admiration and respect for him. MJ greatly influenced our music." David Archuleta admitted, "ah, I can't get over MJ. I know everyone's talking about it but he deserves the respect. I hope people will appreciate what he's done." Miley Tweeted simply, "Michael Jackson was my inspiration." Britney Spears, who did a duet with Michael in 2001, was ready to go see him on tour. "He has been an inspiration throughout my entire life," Britney said, "I'm devastated he's gone!" Will.I.Am, of the Black Eyed Peas, was working with Michael on his new album. "I am so grateful to have worked with the King," he shared. "He was a gift to the world." Sean Kingston stopped by the J-14 offices today -- watch his video tribute to Michael Jackson below:

Enjoy every moment like it's your last." Kim told her Twitter followers that she was looking at pictures from her 14th birthday party at MJ's Neverland Ranch! Sharing his favorite of the star's music videos, Corbin Bleu spilled, "I'll never forget when I first saw 'Smooth.' It was real cinema."
Throughout the weekend, MTV is hosting a Michael Jackson Tribute with back-to-back music videos and live performances. Today at 6PM ET, they will premiere A Celebration of Michael Jackson on MTV, featuring the performer's greatest moments on the network and messages from other artists, and at 7PM, they'll re-air an episode of America's Best Dance Crew that featured Michael Jackson's music.
