Exclusive: Behind-the-scenes at The Hills and The City finale special!

HollyMontag.jpg

Hey J-14ers,

I had so much fun last night hanging out backstage at the live The Hills and The City finale extravaganza, filmed right in NYC at MTV's Times Square studio! It was cool to see Whitney Port and Roxy Olin joking around between interviews, Kristin Cavallari giggling when Brody Jenner's name was mentioned during the TV special, and Holly Montag running around the hallways saying hello to everybody including Justin Bobby and Kristin! All the girls looked so pretty in their super sparkly and sequined dresses -- or in Audrina Patridge's case, one of her signature jumpers! Plus she's back to her dark brown locks, which look gorgeous, of course!

And don't worry, I got some inside scoop for you too -- plus some signed goodies, but you'll have to wait for an upcoming issue of J-14 to find out just what those are! =)

Kristin and Whitney both revealed last night that The Hills and The City are returning for new seasons, but before that announcement, I asked Whitney all about her thoughts on continuing with her reality show. "I would love it to keep going," Whitney tells J-14. "I put my heart and soul into this whole project and obviously I want it to be a success and go for as long as people want it to go. I'd love it to go on."

Holly revealed to me that she's no longer talking to her sister Heidi Montag, but she's cool with the rest of the cast. "I've always had a cordial relationship with pretty much everyone on the cast," Holly explains to J-14. "Stacie is my best friend -- we just moved in together actually. She's the sweetest girl in the world. Kristen I just adore, and I can't wait to get to know her better."

I can't wait to see what happens when the cameras keep rolling!

Did you watch The Hills and The City finales last night? Who are your fave MTV reality stars? Do you want to see new episdoes?

Exclusive Q&A with The City's Roxy Olin

RoxyOlinJ14.jpg

The Season 1, Part 2 finale of The City airs tomorrow night (Tuesday, December 1 at 10:30 pm ET), so J-14 caught up with Whitney Port's pal Roxy Olin to chat about the show before the finale airs December 1 on MTV. J-14 talked to Roxy about the reality show, what Whitney's really like, and why she's waiting to see The Twilight Saga: New Moon!

J-14: Are you happy to be on The City over to The Hills?
Roxy Olin:
Yes. I know the people from L.A., and they have a great thing going, but if I were to enter now it would be really hard. What I love about being in New York is that I get to work for Kelly Cutrone and in fashion, and I really love New York City!

J-14: What is Whitney like off-camera?
Roxy:
Whitney's a goof ball -- she's so much fun. She's really spontaneous, and I don't think they show that [side] much. She parties harder than I do and they don't make it look like that! She's definitely a fun, spontaneous girl.

J-14: What's the best place to visit in New York City?
Roxy:
The ice skating rink [at Rockefeller Center].

J-14: Are you excited for the New Moon premiere?
Roxy:
I'm pretty excited. I won't go for a little bit until it calms down, but I'm going to go because I gush over Edward. I'm not normal at all!

J-14: Are there any rumors you really want to clear up?
Roxy:
I'm not dating Justin Bobby!

J-14 has the inside scoop straight from the 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards!

Hey J-14ers,

I was lucky enough to not just watch the 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards being taped last night at NYC's Roseland Ballroom, but I got to head out on to the red carpet too! I talked to all the celebs about who they were excited to see at the awards show and, of course, talk about New Moon!

Sparks the Rescue's single is called "We Love Like Vampires," so I had to ask if they were Team Edward or Jacob. "Team Bella!" guitarist Toby McAllister told J-14. But Zooey Deschanel -- her hubby happens to be Death Cab For Cutie's lead singer Ben Gibbard -- told me she hasn't seen the movies! "I just haven't gotten to it, but I'm open to it," Zooey told J-14. "I love the soundtrack!"

Never Shout Never's Christopher Drew -- one of the night's big winners who told me, "I wish I was a vampire!" -- was psyched to see Death Cab perform, while singer Kenna loves Alicia Keys. In fact, he wanted her to win the Good Woodie award for charity work -- over himself! But would he pull a Kanye West if Alicia didn't win? "Yes," he told me. "I'll take the award from whoever - like if I win it, I'll take it from myself. Is [Taylor Swift] here? I want to give her a hug."

He wasn't the only one -- the Kanye incident was mentioned by rapper Asher Roth when he presented an award. But the biggest surprises of the night? Matt & Kim's back-up dancers stripping down during the band's opening number (they still had some clothes on -- don't worry!), 3OH!3 dressed up in two of Lady Gaga's craziest outfits, and Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester presented with the legendary Cydni Lauper!

My fave parts of the night overall were just watching Death Cab perform their hit off the Twilight soundtrack, "Meet Me On The Equinox," and one of my all-time fave songs of theirs, "The Sound of Settling." P.O.S. rapping through the crowd was pretty cool too, as was mega rock band The Dead Weather performing three songs to close out the night -- after all, they're an awesome group who hardly ever take the stage!

You can check out all the madness when the 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards when it premieres on Friday, December 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

There were tons of up-and-coming bands and indie groups there that I think you guys would love. So tell me -- what new bands are you interested in hearing about? Do you guys like finding out about new music?

Exclusive Q&A With The City's Whitney Port!

WhitneyPort.jpg

It may be hot in The Hills, but Whitney Port and the girls of The City are heating things up in the Big Apple for the second part of season one! The City's star Whitney talked to J-14 about all the drama that's in store for The City fans this season: there are new roommates, new relationships, a new job -- and find out what she has to say about dating on national television!

J-14: So what is going to be new and different about the new episodes of The City?
Whitney:
I'm moving into a new place, I switch my job, I have some new people coming in and out of my life! I realized that what I came to New York to do was to design my clothing line and I felt like I wasn't being true to myself and proactively going for it. So I went to Kelly and we discussed a game plan: she told me I could work freelance at People's Revolution and design my line on the side using one of her showrooms as a studio space. This season shows me on that whole journey doing what I came here to do. Also, now I'm dating, which is different because last season I had a full on relationship!

J-14: Will ex-boyfriend Jay be on this season at all?
Whitney:
You see a little bit of him. I like to keep in touch with my exes and I've been fortunate enough to end on a good note with them. It's always been important to me because it's crazy how you can love someone so much one second and hate them the next. I just find it really bizarre!

J-14: We've been introduced to some new friends this season, but do you still keep in touch with Lauren Conrad?
Whitney:
Yes, we do. We talk quite a lot. Recently, she was in New York for the VMAS and presenting at the VH1 Diva's Event!

J-14: How is it having your parents watch you go on dates on television?
Whitney:
It's very, very strange but the good thing about it is that I'm really close with my parents and I would probably tell them every detail anyways so I'm not really that afraid about how they're going to judge it. I think the key is to be honest with your parents. They're not the enemy, you know?

J-14: What have you learned about yourself from doing the show?
Whitney:
I think I've learned that if I really set my mind to something and really motivate myself in that direction I can get anything done. I grew up with a family that kind of always took care of me. They were always doting over me and I was always like a helpless little child. I think it's been a really big learning experience to be on my own and realize I can conquer things without having someone rescue me.

Tune into The City every Tuesday 10:30 p.m. ET/PT!

Have you guys been watching The City? What do you think about this season? If you could ask Whitney anything, what would you ask her?

Trend Alert: Crop Tops!

croptop.jpg

The City's Whitney Port and The Beautiful Life's Ashley Madekwe are not only on two fashion-forward shows, the girls are pretty stylish themselves. Well, they definitely made head turns when they were both recently spotted in New York City wearing a very '80s trend - crop tops! Whitney sported a cut-off plaid button down as she strolled through the West Village, while Ashley showed off a floral tank at the DSi Studio in the Bryant Park Hotel.

It may look so totally vintage, but the crop top is making a big comeback - Whitney's City pal, Erin Lucas, and Ashley's TBL co-star, Mischa Barton, have also bared their bellies in the name of fashion.

What do you think of the look? Is it something you'd ever wear on the weekends?
