Check out our Q&A with Cassie Scerbo, Chelsea Hobbs and Zach Abel, and be sure to tune in at 9 p.m. TONIGHT for the first episode of Make it or Break it!
Q&A with Cassie Scerbo
TWIST: Tell us about your character, Lauren.
Cassie: She's very competitive. The interesting thing about Lauren is she's the mean girl, the drama starter, but it all comes from a very painful place and people are going to see as the show progresses that she actually has a lot of issues. She's actually probably the most vulnerable one and that's why she kind of puts on this whole façade of this mean character with all this attitude.
TWIST: So what kind of things can we expect in the first season?
Cassie: There'll be lots of love triangles and lots of drama and cattiness! But at the same time, it's an elite world of gymnastics, so everyone's going to be able to see amazing routines and just four girls wanting this gold medal. It's going to become very interesting and very competitive because of their passion for gymnastics.
TWIST: What's your favorite aspect of gymnastics?
Cassie: My favorite part of gymnastics would probably have to be the beam because in the show, that's my character's strength. She's known to be the best in the country, so I've kind of fallen into that whole mindset of just being the best on the beam, and I've really begun to enjoy it, it's really fun. Plus I love heights!
TWIST: What's been your best memory of hanging out together?
Cassie: We actually have girls' nights, we go out to dinner, we celebrate our birthdays together, there have been so many fun nights. We just have the best time. We get so delirious after 15 hours on set that we just start saying the funniest things. We have so many inside jokes and songs we sing and it's really funny, we just have bonded a lot on set.
Q&A with Chelsea Hobbs
TWIST: Tell us about your character, Emily.
Chelsea: She's sort of the underdog. She comes in having only done training at the YMCA and the playground, nothing really professional. So she's recruited and she comes to The Rock on scholarship and she's thrown into the big leagues!
TWIST: What do you think is the biggest challenge that Emily faces?
C: I think that the biggest challenge for Emily is going to be that she can pull out all the big gymnastics tricks, but when it comes to the actual technical stuff that all the other girls have learned throughout their whole lives, Emily hasn't learned those. I think that will be her hardest challenge.
TWIST: What did you guys do to prepare for the gymnastics scenes?
C: Oh my goodness! Lots and lots of gymnastics training, and general training to build muscle mass. Gymnasts have such developed muscles! We have an appreciation now for what these girls do, definitely.
TWIST: Do you four girls get along on set?
C: We get along really well, we're really fortunate. When you put four random girls together you're going to see problems more likely than not. We are so grateful for the cast we have, we all get along amazingly.
Q&A with Zach Abel
TWIST: Tell us about your character, Carter.
Zach: Carter Anderson is basically just an all-around good guy. He comes from a good family. He's a gymnast as well, his specialty is the rings. He doesn't come from as much money as some of the other characters.
TWIST: Had you ever done gymnastics before the show?
Zach: When I was like a little boy, I was in gymnastics for four or five years, so I kind of have this innate familiarity with the facility and being around all the different apparatus. So, it's fun!
TWIST: So your character and has a little romance going on with Josie's character.
Zach: It's hush hush, I can't talk about it, you're going to get me kicked off the team!
TWIST: Haha no way! What was it like filming your first romantic scene?
Zach: It was great! It's fun, Josie and I have a great, easy chemistry with each other so it was a good time. I think that there's something about having a secret relationship that's exciting, but Carter, he doesn't want to hide it anymore.
TWIST: Do you think anyone will be the set prankster?
Zach: Yes, I'll wear that crown.
TWIST: Who will be your first target?
Zach: We'll see who's the most vulnerable!
TWIST: What's the most embarrassing on-set moment?
Zach: We were all miked and the three girls were over by the beam. I think someone had something that didn't agree with her for lunch and something kind of slipped out. And the sound guy walked over with a huge grin on his face and said, "You girls do realize that we can hear you and everything that's going on?" They all turned bright red! And I'm not going to tell you which girl it was, but that was the most embarrassing moment.
Wow, that's an LOL moment fit for TWIST! So, TWIST girl, are you excited to watch Make it or Break it? Comment now!
